This is a little gem of a horror story. A tale of a woodcutter, the backdrop being the forests around Chernobyl, the site of a catastrophic nuclear accident in 1986. This scared and mostly abandoned area is the perfect setting for both the real life horror and the mythic or is it mythic? This 72 page read will chill in the way the old Night Gallery and Twilight Zone TV series did. The ironic ending is foreshadowed and not a surprise, but in the hands of this skilled and talented horror writer, it made this reader gasp and shed a tear. I highly recommend and look forward to the next 4 tales in what the author calls: The Tombstone Shorts.
