Sacrifice

They tried to destroy me,

To demonize my power

Afraid of my wisdom

From my knowledge they did cower.

I only wanted freedom

To practice the ancient ways

They burned my books and tools

My sacred places they did raze.

Blind to my courage

My tenacity and skill

They knew they could not reach me

They could not break my will.

Alone, I walk through brambles

Offer spirits my sacrifice

Blood on my hands attests

Who has paid the ultimate price.
